World-renowned artist Peter Max was been named Official Artist for the 2012 Centennial Celebration of the National Cherry Blossom Festival, and he created the dynamic 2012 commemorative poster in his iconic style. This one-of-a-kind artwork captures the vivid experience and essence of the Festival, especially for the unprecedented five week celebration in honor of the 100-year anniversary of the gift of trees from Tokyo to Washington, DC. “The inspiration behind the artwork was simple: "I have always loved when spring arrives and the cherry blossoms bloom."

Since the late-1960s, Peter Max'’s work has been an artistic symbol of American pop culture. His images form a scrapbook illustrating 40 years of Americana.
